Falck to target the heavy industry sector in Finland

22 December 2005

Integrated MillSecurity is a new security product developed by Turvatiimi, a Finnish guard and security services provider, in collaboration with Falck in Finland. The objective of the new collaboration is to combine Turvatiimi’s extensive local experience and expertise in the Finnish corporate security market with Falck’s international knowhow in prevention and response services for accidents at industrial workplaces.

Turvatiimi is a market-leading Finnish guard and security services provider. Turvatiimi’s consolidated revenues for 2005 are forecast at more than EUR 22 billion, and the company has some 850 employees. Turvatiimi’s main competitors on the Finnish market are Group4Securicor, Securitas and ISS.

Integrated MillSecurity will offer customers a single package to cover all their security requirements. The new product includes rescue activities of all kinds, including fire fighting, operation and maintenance of surveillance systems, corporate-information-systems security, procedures for staff personal security and general training of staff in secure behaviour.

By combining the many different security options in one package, a rationalisation gain can be achieved which will make the package financially attractive to customers. Guard and security staff can be trained and integrated in a single response organisation.

The package will be targeted at the large Finnish forest and chemical industries, and during the initial phase Turvatiimi and Falck will market the package jointly. Through the collaboration with Turvatiimi, Falck will gain access to a market segment without making major investments in marketing and network development. The goal is to take over industrial fire fighting response services, to provide supplementary training or alternatively to be in charge of the training of these response teams and other staff groups that may be involved in a more wide-ranging response set-up, for instance guard and security staff. In addition, the collaboration will involve sales, delivery and maintenance of rescue equipment/systems, establishment of local paramedic ambulance services and health and first-aid clinics.

The new partnership with Turvatiimi marks a further strengthening of Falck’s market profile in Finland. Falck currently operates an ambulance station (3 response teams) at Lappeeranta close to the Russian border to the northeast of Helsinki, and earlier in 2005 Falck took over the Finnish-based assistance company Rosqvist, which is the market leader in roadside assistance in both Finland and Estonia.
